The Moose Jaw Chiefs improved to 2-1 on the season in the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League's senior division with a 12-7 win over the Saskatoon Steelers on Saturday night at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Chiefs' scoring depth was on display in the win with Frank Davalos leading the way with a hat trick and four points in the win. Carter Davis, Tanner Kittler and Kyle Dalgarno each scored twice for the Chiefs, Jay Fellinger, Todd Doepker and Mitch Adams all found the back of the net once.

Thomas Spence had four helpers in the win, while Davis and Doepker added three assists to their goal exploits for the Chiefs.

The two teams traded goals throughout the first period with the Steelers opening the scoring, but the Chiefs striking back with a pair to take a 2-1 lead just over five minutes into the game. Both sides traded goals in the second half of the first period to finish the frame tied at 3-3.

The Chiefs took over in the second period with six goals to move in front 9-5 after two. They extended that lead to five goals with three markers in the third period.

Sheldon Paul picked up the win between the pipes for the Chiefs.

Moose Jaw will be back on the court on Tuesday when they face the Estevan Impact at Crescent Point Place in Weyburn.

The Moose Jaw Bantam and Midget Mustangs hit the road to Swift Current on Friday night and both came back with losses.

The Bantam Mustangs opened the night with a 4-3 loss to the Rampage 1 to fall to 1-1 on the season.

In the midget game, the Mustangs fell 10-8 to the Rampage, which also dropped their record to 1-1 to open the year.

The Midget Mustangs will be back on the court on Monday night when they host the Weyburn Thrashers at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place.

Next action for the Bantam Mustangs is on Tuesday when they travel to Weyburn for a match-up with the Thrashers.

The Saskatchewan Rush now know who their opponent will be in this Sunday’s NLL Western Final.

The Calgary Roughnecks knocked off the Colorado Mammoth, 15-12, in the Western Semifinal on Saturday to secure their spot in the final.

The Rush went 3-0 against the Roughnecks during the regular season, including an 11-10 win in the season finale on Apr. 28.

Saskatchewan is looking to make its fourth straight appearance in the NLL Final.

The Rush will host the Roughnecks on Sunday at 5 p.m. at SaskTel Centre.
