It's Throwback Thursday - remembering the good ol' days.

It was 35 years ago in 1988, the Moose Jaw Warriors were in search of some veteran leadership.  They acquired a 20 year old veteran defenceman from the Kamloops Blazers.  He was mature beyond his years.  A courageous young man with credibility who had the respect of his teammates and opponents alike.

He's lead his underdog team to the playoffs that season, his final year of junior hockey.

Devon Oleniuk would soon join another local team.  The Moose Jaw Police Service.

This week, after over 33 years of service, Superintendent Oleniuk retired.

He truly made a difference working with the Community Policing Division, Criminal Investigation and Organized Crime sections.

You know, I can't remember what the Warriors gave up to get Oleniuk in '88 but I can tell you this.  It was a good trade for our hockey club.  It was a GREAT trade for the City of Moose Jaw.
