You'd think the Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation is in a great position to get what they're demanding from the Saskatchewan Party government.  This is, after all, an election year.

However, the dispute continues in the Legislature, on the radio and television, in the newspapers and on social media.  Not at the bargaining table.

Classroom composition is at the heart of the matter.  It seems to me most agree changes are needed.  Some of our teachers are overwhelmed as they try to meet the needs of our young students.  What I don't like is the sanctions that are scheduled to start tomorrow.

The STF is calling it a "restriction of services".  So, teachers will "report to school and provide professional service no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the school day and not later than 15 minutes after...the school day".  Also, they will "not provide any voluntary or extracurricular services".

So, this weekend, hundreds of high school athletes will not compete in the regional basketball championships and Hoopla, the provincial championships scheduled for Regina later this month, will likely be cancelled if a deal isn't by the end of the day today.I think about those kids, some of them in their senior years, who may not get to play.  That, my friends, is just wrong.
