We have a new mayor-elect in the City of Moose Jaw.  Lifelong resident Clive Tolley won the byelection last night.

It may not have been fair to share this story pre-byelection.  It's OK today.

This past weekend a friend of mine voted at the advance poll at city hall.  She and her husband had their youngest child with them.  She was curious about the process and had a number of questions, and she was miffed by the fact she was too young to cast a ballot.

It was post-vote she asked her mom which candidate she had voted for.  Her mom said, "I voted for Tolley" and she asked her why.

She said, "I think he's the best person for the job and I know him and I like him."

Later in the day when the little girl was one-on-one with her dad, she asked him which candidate got his vote.  He said, "Clive" and she asked why.

He said,  "I think he's the best person for the job and I know him and I like him."

And the little girl said, "That's exactly what mom said except she voted for Tolley!"
