Big Bert being viewed by the public for the first time on Tuesday, October, 22.

Big Bert made his debut at the Western Development Museum on Tuesday.

According to Harold Bryant, Director of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the 90 million year old crocodile is one of a kind.

"Big Bert is an example of a fantastic fossil found in Saskatchewan. And, I guess the other thing for why Big Bert is a big deal is he is the best specimin for that kind of crocodile found anywhere in the world."

Bryant says the exhibit will travel across the province after its time is finished at the Western Development Museum.

"What this does is it a big support to the smaller museums. I think it is great to reach as many people in Saskatchewan as possible. That is why having it here at the Western Development Museum is great."

When the ancient crocodile was alive it made its home along the banks of the Carrot River in the Pasquia Hills, which, at the time was under a great island sea.  "Big Bert" will be on display at the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw until March, 2014.
