An auditor's report on Saskatchewan oil and gas pipelines and operators says that more work needs to be done with monitoring.

In her annual report, Auditor Judy Ferguson said that as of March, the Ministry of the Economy still had not make written policies and procedures to evaluate pipeline operations.

There is also a need for a risk-based assessment for pipeline construction and to monitor the integrity and safety of current lines.

In addition, Ferguson said that the two biggest operators in the province have not completed the required forms to show that they are following operation standards.

They account for around half of the 2,200 licensed pipelines in the province.
