It was good news for the residents living on the 1300 block of Algoma Avenue on Friday, as a sizeable pothole is getting repaired.

Moose Jaw resident Michael Morrison, who lives on the street describes the pothole as about eight feet in length, four feet wide, and about 18 inches deep.

For the last two months, Morrison has gone back and forth with the City of Moose Jaw to repair the hole.

“I know they're busy, but two months is too long. My son lives on Stadacona and he said that he phoned, and it was fixed within three days,” Morrison says.

On Friday morning, city crews made their way to the scene of the pothole and filled in the hole with dirt, and tampered it down.

He adds in the last two months he has seen at least four cars that have bottomed out due to the pothole.

“A guy with Skip the Dishes knocked out the bottom of his car with it. At night you don’t see anything and then you hit it and it’s too late.”

According to Morrison, in March the hole began as the result of some water main replacement work that was being done.

Apparently, the hole was filled in with dirt following the work, but continuous vehicle traffic has caused the pothole to become more and more exposed.

“I have a truck and I won’t even drive in that hole. Most of the time we have to go to the bottom of the block to get access to our properties because cars park on both sides of the street.”
