The red carpet is being rolled out in Assiniboia as the community prepares to play host to the 34th Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) Awards.

The award weekend gets moving Thursday night with the Stars and Guitars Banquet at the Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia.

"This is going to be a lot of fun. We're going to have an acoustic set from our good friends JJ Voss and Jordan Pollard. Of course, it's a banquet with a catered buffet," said Steve Huber, president of the Saskatchewan Country Music Association, noting that tickets can be purchased at the Prince of Wales Centre.

The festivities begin in earnest Friday night with the star-studded Kickoff Cabaret at the Southland Co-Op Centre. Saskatchewan artists Justin LaBrash, Karissa Hoffart, Jordyn Pollard and Shantaia will all perform ahead of nine-time Canadian Country Music Association Award winners, The Washboard Union.

"We've got The Washboard Union, Kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity for a band like The Washboard Union to stop by and play in the little Assiniboia, Saskatchewan in our beautiful new arena, the Southland Co-op Centre," added Huber.

The evening with be capped off by a cabaret with Lisa Moen and Tyler Lewis performing.

Saturday is a jam-packed day with a street festival scheduled during the day and the SCMA Award Show that night.

"Saturday afternoon, the day of the SCMA Awards, we're gonna have a street festival right in front of our brand new arena. It's going to be a lot of fun. I think we've got like 30 vendors out there, food trucks, bouncy castles, that kind of stuff. So it's a big family party, noted Huber.

Then all eyes turn to the SCMA Award Show Saturday night, which will be televised beginning at 7:50 p.m. and hosted by The Washboard Union and many of Saskatchewan's country music superstars.

"Bunch of Canadian artists are going to win what I would consider to be the most prestigious award in the province of Saskatchewan when it comes to music and we're going to do it up right! It's going to be a show like no other," says Huber.

You can purchase a weekend pass - which includes tickets to the Kickoff Cabaret and the SCMA Award Sow - or you can purchase tickets to the events individually through SaskTix. Tickets to the Stars and Guitars Banquet can be purchased at the Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia.
