Legislation to eliminate the Canadian Wheat Board's single desk will be front and center on Parliament Hill this week.

On Thursday, the Conservatives added the bill to the House of Commons Notice Paper. It must be on Notice for two business days before it can be introduced.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz is set to deliver a speech later this morning (at 11am) at a farm near Acme, Alberta. He will be discussing why the Harper Government is committed to making the changes.

The Conservatives plan on ending the CWB monopoly for the 2012-13 crop year, which starts August 1st, 2012.

Both Ritz and Prime Minister Harper have said they expect to pass the legislation "very quickly."
