After losing a family member recently, one local woman is hoping to raise funds for a worthy cause this coming weekend.

Moose Jaw's Sarah Clarke is the event's organizer. She created a 5 and 10 km walk or run in memory of a special person in her life and hopes the city's residents will come out to support her and this cause.

"It is near and dear to my heart. I just lost my grandma to this disease this past winter. I just want to give back to the society and help raise money for Alzheimer's research."

Anyone interested in participating to run through the scenic trails around Connor Park can join the run or walk in a few simple steps according to Clarke.

"The online registration will close on the 13th but I will have registration the morning of as well as taking donations. If people are interested in donating or are unable to participate in the event,co we will definitely have a table set up at Connor's Park in the morning," Clarke explained. "I have online registration up and running right now if they go

to www.events.runningroom.com they can actually search for this event here in Moose Jaw on June 15th and register online. It's $40 for adults, $20 for youth and students, 14 years and younger is the category for the youth."

The race begins at 8 am on June 15th and Clarke described the trail as an intermediate-level terrain with some hills, uneven ground and a mixture of single-track and double-track trails.

All proceeds from the run or walk and donations will go directly to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan, and although this is the first time holding this event, she said they hope to continue it annually.
