This Saturday is a big night for the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Warriors face off with the Regina Pats at Mosaic Place. This is the second year the team will participate in the annual National Hockey League's Hockey Fights Cancer night.

This is a major fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically the Saskatchewan Branch.

"It's really going to be one of our biggest nights of the year. It's one of the nights that we put the most planning into and the most effort into for sure, and it's just something we really look forward to. It goes to a great cause every year and it's something that we really take pride in," says Jaret Schnieder, the Director of Business Operations.

The team will wear specialized purple jerseys that will have a touch of home for their fans. The jerseys will be purple to match the Hockey Fights Cancer logo, and will also feature a

The collage will be in the number on each player's jersey to honour their fans and their journeys. The decision to have the photos in the numbers was so that nothing was taken away from the purple design of the jerseys.

All of the player's jerseys will be put up for an online silent auction during the game this Saturday. The auction will start at 6 pm and close at the beginning of the third period.

Four unique additional jerseys from Captain Daemon Hunt, Ryder Korczak, Denton Mateychuk, and Brayden Yager went up for auction online on Monday and are still taking bids. The auction for those few jerseys will end on Sunday, November 21 at 8 pm. All of these players' game-worn jerseys will be included in the auction on Saturday as well.

There are also auctions for signed Hockey Fights Cancer pucks from each of those four players.

People can join these auctions and bid on their favourite jersey or puck by visiting the Warriors online store.

When the board of Business Operations Directors was landing on making these special jerseys for Hockey Fight Cancer night, they found inspiration from the Chicago Blackhawks who did a similar promotion.

"The idea was kind of thought up by Brady (Brady Shave, Director of Finance) and Hayley (Hayley Rushinko, Manager of Game Day and Special Events) here in the office. The two of them were kind of talking about well what can we do? Let's do something special, let's really go out of the water and make it cool and I think Brady really brought up the idea of 'hey, you know the Chicago Blackhawks did something like this in the past and what they did was they took photos submitted from their fans and their season ticket holders and incorporated those photos into the jerseys, and we thought well let's have a look and see what we can do. When Hayley saw it, she knew right away. She was like we gotta do this," says Schnieder.

There was a bit of a time crunch to have the jerseys made but the Cat Stitch helped them pull it off.

There will be other things for people to participate in as well. The team will be selling 'I Fight For' cards, where fans can write down the name of a person they're fighting for and then that card will be posted on the arena concourse throughout the night. There will be a chuck-a-puck and prizes like a team signed Hockey Fights Cancer jersey. Purple glowsticks will also be available for people to show their support and help light up the arena.

All proceeds from the auctions, the 'I Fight For' cards, and the glowsticks will be going towards the Saskatchewan Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.

People can purchase tickets for this game and all upcoming games on the Sasktix website.
