A class at Vanier Collegiate are giving back, anyway they can.

As part of the Christian Action Plan or CAP, 23 students, along with a few teachers and staff, put together bags to support the homeless here in Moose Jaw.

"They reached out to businesses and people all over Moose Jaw to see if there was anything that they could donate," said teacher Karen Jordan.

"Whether it was one toothbrush or one pair of socks. Because everyone could pitch in and do one thing to help out."

And the response from the community was absolutely overwhelming.

"One the students involved, Kalen, explained that "we needed to help out, in ways bigger than just our school, so we asked our school and the community to donate items that we take for granted and we could make bags and give them to those who need it.  It started as just a Christmas thing, but then it became so much more," Jordan said.

Each bag contained things like toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, sunglasses, kleenex boxes, granola bars, deodorant, and special bags for girls.

Jordan said "the straight edge barber here in Moose Jaw, really inspired us to help out one person at a time. And we thought it would be a really cool idea to get some bags together, that he could actually hand out to people that he is giving haircuts too. Just to kind of give them a little bit more, and a little bit of joy in their life as well."

One hundred bags were collected and put together, and they presented them to Jason Gauthier on Thursday morning at Vanier Collegiate.
