Today is a good day to shop local.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business has proclaimed the Saturday after Small Business Week 'Small Business Saturday'.The day highlights the important role that small business owners play in growing and strengthening the economy.

CFIB president Dan Kelly said, "Starting a small business is a big decision. It means taking a leap of faith without knowing what lies ahead."

Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce CEO Rob Clark said the chamber supports local businesses by "doing a lot of educating and training sessions" and they "try to keep [businesses] up to date on what's happening...HR issues...anything that is pertinent to their small business."

Clark also said that local business owners have "laid their money on the line", and that the Chamber is open to talking with current and future members at any time.

"We don't turn anybody away," said Clark.
