Cheating has been a hot topic at the University of Regina after a number of students were caught allegedly cheating in a Law and Ethics class back in March.

Shortly following the incident, administration at the post secondary institution announced that they would be putting cameras in classrooms trying to catch cheaters right as exam time arrived.

Locally, Saskatchewan Polytechnic Campuses do their best to provide support to students in an effort to stop cheating even before it can start.

"Unfortunately, all educational institutions do have incidents of academic misconduct," explained Anne Neufeld, Provost and Vice-President of Sask Polytechnic. "We do see it periodically at our Moose Jaw campus but, also at our other three campuses as well in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert."

Neufeld added the administrators do their best to implement rules for students, attempting to make it as problematic as possible to cheat on an exam or test.

"We want to ensure our exams are properly supervised; some of those measures might just be simply making sure seats are separated. Also not using the same exam year after year, and we want to make sure students don't have access to technology like a smart phone."

She noted individuals that are caught cheating on an exam will have to face whatever punishment that the school or university has in place.
