UPDATE: Residents this morning reported seeing the cougar near the downtown Co-op Marketplace. It has now moved into the vicinity of King George and St Agnes elementary schools. Both schools have asked parents to pick up their children early from school and to not let them walk home. Conservation Officers are on the scene attempting to locate the animal.

The public is asked to not try and aid or interfere with the capture and extraction process.

A doorbell camera in the northwest part of the city was triggered by an unusual guest last night. Just after midnight, footage of a cougar was captured crossing a yard on the 900 block James St.

Police have been unable to locate the cougar and Conservation Officers will be joining the search soon.

The public is asked not to approach or attempt to chase off the cougar and to notify MJPS of any further sightings at 306-694-7600 immediately.
