The first real work that looks like construction is getting underway this week in downtown Moose Jaw.  Hockey Capital Corporation is starting to pour the footings for the multiplex this week, marking the first physical construction on site this summer.

This new facility has been surrounded by controversy since day one and we asked Principal JP Picardi with MHPN Project Managers what they think of all the debate, "It's part of municipal politics.  It happens, we've done a number of different projects similar to these in different municipalities and you encounter it all the time.  At the end of the day we strongly believes that this is going to be a great facility for the city of Moose Jaw, but again municipal environment that's how it is."

Picardi says they take great pride in having things done right, "What's key to me personally is that we meet the city or the clients expectations.  So, the city has a vision and we want to make that vision happen for them.  We want to make sure that they get what they want and that's our sole focus, it's to make sure that what the city or our clients set out to do is realized."

The work on the soccer facility is also expected to get underway this week or next with a completion date of 2010. The multiplex should be done by the fall of 2011.
