Local registered charity and non-profit agency Moose Jaw Families for Change recently purchased a new building to operate out of on South Hill.

The old Conexus Credit Union building will serve as a hub for individuals with disabilities, and as a place for the organization to host group activities and programs.

Mike Bachiu is the Program Coordinator with Moose Jaw Families for Change, and he explained why the building was a perfect fit:

"We've been looking at a bunch of different options in town, we knew wanted to grow beyond what we had and we really wanted to offer a daytime program area outside of our participants' homes. Conexus really ticked all the boxes as far as being affordable, great location, wheelchair accessible already."

"For individuals who have a difficulty going out into the community, have a way to bring the community in to those individuals. It's really hard to get somebody to come in and teach an art class for one person in their home, where as if you could bring someone in to a larger area where you have 5-10 people, it's suddenly worth their while."

Tami Grieve is the Executive Director for MJFFC. She said that buying this building has opened new possibilities for the organization.

"We want to be able to run an inclusion centre in the near future for evening and weekend programming and structure for folks with disabilities/varying abilities in the community, where there would be a place for people to gather, relate, maybe have some structured activities, maybe crafts, art, games, bingo, cards, whatever they prefer."
