Young people helping others through random acts of kindness.

The 2020-2021 U11 Red Rebels might not be known for what they’re doing on the ice this year due to the pandemic, but their off-ice exploits are going to be greatly appreciated.

It’s been a season-long spread of positivity in the world for the team. Parent and organizer Chelsey Seiferling said the Red Rebels performed their first acts of kindness last month by shoveling driveways and walkways in November.

“From the time that ended, we had started collecting winter wear, so the kids collected those over the past four weeks, and this past weekend, we delivered to the Moose Jaw Transition House, the food bank, the Riverside Mission as well as the Moose Jaw Newcomers Welcome Centre.”

Fellow volunteers made the boxes and the kids filled and donated the items. Seiferling said everybody bought into the idea.

“All the kids embraced it and (so did) the families,” she said. “We weren’t sure with all the COVID restrictions, how many parents would be on board, and how many kids would be able to make it out, so on Saturday, when we saw the parking lot filling up with vehicles, and we realized how many of these kids and parents got involved and wanted to do some good, it was so heartwarming.”

They’ve filled the boxes and left these boxes at these organizations. The boxes will be available for those in need to take items they or their family might need.
