After winning the Saskatchewan Mining Association Provincial Competition last year, 8 members are on their way to compete nationally.

K+S Potash Bethune site is sending members of their Emergency Response Team to the 14th Biennial National Western Region Mine Rescue Competition.

The competition showcases the vast knowledge, training, commitment, and professionalism that mining emergency response and rescue teams dedicate themselves to, keeping their mines and co-workers as safe as possible, every day. The teams will be challenged in 7 categories, aimed to test potential mining accidents and scenarios that require rescue teams to respond to.

Scott Gibney, captain of the K+S team, said there is another Saskatchewan based team going as well.

"Mosaic Belle Plaine will be there as well. They got runner up in 2019, and the first place team was unable to go, so they get to go."

The competition goes from September 5th, through the 7th.
