As we prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime isolation Christmas, it's a strange way to cap off what's been a different and tough year.

Kids will be going to bed tonight hoping to find everything they asked for on their letter to Santa, including a 12-year-old Moose Jaw boy, Felix Thomas-Ortiz, who asked for something quite special.

"I asked Santa for seven things, including hope in the world and in people's hearts. A lot of people in the world are sad right now because of COVID, or because they can't see their family, or their family has passed."

Felix did of course ask for toys as well, including Lego, board games, video games, and some clothes, but said that those were all optional.

His mom, Gladys, says that's just the kind of kid he is.

"I am extremely, extremely proud but it does not surprise me. This is something he does on a regular basis; he shows his heart."

Even though the year has been like no other, and our Christmas will certainly be quieter than years past, Felix's letter serves as a good reminder that we can still learn a lot from our kids.
