It's 47 years ago this week that I attended my first day of school - Kindergarten at Sherwood School in Regina.  How I can remember that day so clearly is beyond me but, I can.  I wore a blue sweater with a big, white "R" for Robbie on the left breast.

I can also remember my first day of school at Queen Elizabeth elementary in Moose Jaw some 3 years later, my first day at King George 3 years after that and I'll never forget how frightened and intimidated I was on my first day of high school at Central Collegiate Institute.  I remember most of my teachers and classmates and oh, do I have stories.

I can also clearly remember a local teacher calling me at CHAB about 25 years ago.  She scolded me for talking about "back to school" like it was a chore for the children and how I was so negative, saying the kids "had to" go back to school and that "summer fun is over".  She told me, "Not every child dreads going back to school, you know.  Many children love going back to school."

Her point was well-taken.  I got it.  I get it.  It's just that I was never one of those kids.
