There were 16 teams on the ice at the PlaMore Palace here in Moose Jaw over the weekend for the 2018 Moose Jaw Peewee B Classic.

The Shaunavon Badgers ended up capturing the gold medal with a 6-2 win over Edam Stars in the final on Sunday at the Bert Hunt Arena.

The Moose Jaw Stars, Spitfires, Blackhawks, Predators, and Oilers all took part in hosting the tournament.

The Oilers and Stars will meet on Tuesday night in a return to league play at the Bert Hunt Arena.

Sunday afternoon was special for the youngest players in the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Association.

After playing two games on Friday and Saturday, the Moose Jaw Warriors took the afternoon to hit the ice with players from the Initiation Division for their annual Christmas party.

Ben Peterson was the overtime hero for the Moose Jaw Midget AA Warriors on Friday night as he lifted them to a 5-4 win over the Wings in Weyburn.

Logan Hauser had scored the game-tying goal for the Warriors with 2:38 left to play in the game as Moose Jaw overcame a 4-1 deficit early in the second period.

Peterson finished with a goal and three points in the win, while Noah Braun scored twice. Ethan Bachiu picked up two assists, while Braxton Hooper also found the back of the net.

Austin Bourdeau picked up the win in goal for Moose Jaw as he made 34 saves.

The Warriors are now 2-16-0 this season in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League.

Moose Jaw will play four games in five nights this week, starting on Thursday when they host the Lumsden/Bethune Lions at the Bert Hunt Arena. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors are still searching for their first win this season.

Moose Jaw dropped a 10-3 game to the Prairie Storm on Saturday afternoon at the Red Knight Arena, which put the Warriors’ record at 0-11-1 this season.

Brennan Watterson, Liam Fitzpatrick and Rowan Calvert each scored in the loss for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors have two home games this weekend, they face the Battlefords Barons on Friday night, 7:30 p.m., at the Kinsmen Arena and then the Prince Albert Pirates come to the Bert Hunt Arena on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors continue their strong season with a 7-4 win over the Regina Rebels on Sunday afternoon at the Red Knight Arena.

The win improves the Warriors record to a league-best 8-0-1 this season.

Layne Gadd led the charge for Moose Jaw with a hat trick and four points, while Kohen Millar scored twice for the Warriors.

Ryland Molde and Kale Pratte added a goal and two points each, while Cole King also found the back of the net in the win.

The Warriors are back on the ice this weekend for two games, they will travel to Regina on Friday to face the Royals and then head back to the Queen City on Sunday to take on the Regina Tigers.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Warriors dropped a pair of games over the weekend.

The Warriors lost 8-7 in a back-and-forth game against the Weyburn Wings on Friday night at the Bert Hunt Arena. They followed that up with a 6-1 loss to the Prairie Storm Lightning on Saturday in White City.

On Friday, the Warriors trailed 2-1 after one and 6-4 after two, but they scored three times in the third period to have their comeback fall just short.

Brendan Gerbrandt had two goals and three points in the loss, while Mac Simpson picked up a goal and three points. Bryden Sims added three assists and Ashton Glova had two helpers of his own.

Lucas Salikin, Ty Pratte, Cohen Coleman and Erik Tittemore also scored for the Warriors.

On Saturday, Jacob Michelson scored Moose Jaw’s lone goal, which cut the Lightning’s lead to 2-1 early in the second period, but Prairie Storm responded with four unanswered goals for the win.

Moose Jaw now sits at 0-9-0 this season in the Hockey Regina league. They’re back on the ice for two more games this weekend, they have a rematch with the Lightning on Friday in White City and then host the Regina Shamrocks on Saturday at the Bert Hunt Arena.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks came out of the weekend with a split of their two games in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

The Mavericks dropped a 5-2 game against the Southwest Cyclones on Friday night at the Red Knight Arena, but they bounced back to beat the Swift Current Ice Cats, 6-2, on the road on Sunday.

Brooklyn Nimegeers scored the two goals for the Mavericks in Friday’s loss, as they trailed 2-0 after one, 4-1 after two and they could never recover.

Nimegeers put together a four-goal performance on Sunday for the Mavericks. Kiana Hrechka and Tianna Wiebe also scored in the win for Moose Jaw.

Sunday’s win was big for the Mavericks as it moved them just one point back of the Ice Cats for first place in the South Division with a 6-3-1 record.

Moose Jaw will host the Swift Current Fire Cats on Saturday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., at the Red Knight Arena.
