Justin Almeida burned his former team on Tuesday night by scoring 30 seconds into overtime to lift the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 3-2 win over the Prince George Cougars at CN Centre.

Warriors defenceman Jett Woo tied the game early in the third period as Moose Jaw played from behind the entire game.

"The guys in the room and the coaches, we all know that this isn't a game that we need to be happy about, it's a game that we can take and look over video and fix the mistakes we made throughout the game," said Woo after the win, which improved the Warriors' record to 4-0-1-0 on their seven-game road trip.

Tuesday's win closes out the B.C. Division portion of the trek as the Warriors will now head to Edmonton and Medicine Hat this weekend.

Associate Coach Mark O'Leary said on the Country 100 Post-Game Show that the Warriors were tested by the Cougars.

"They're a young group, they're eager, they make you work for everything that you get and I thought in the first period, we took for granted their record and we backed into the game and they came right at us," said O'Leary. "[Adam Evanoff] had to make some big saves and we really didn't generate much; as the game wore, we capitalized on the chances that we did get, but it wasn't our best effort."

Throughout the first period, the Cougars smothered the Warriors when Moose Jaw went on the attack. Prince George gave the Warriors the wall but didn't allow them many opportunities to drive to the net. The Cougars took a 1-0 with just over two minutes left in the period when Ilijah Colina finished a rush up the ice with a shot that beat Evanoff.

Moose Jaw had good energy to start the second period as they were able to create early opportunities but they weren't able to capitalize. Instead, the Cougars added to their lead when they broke up a Warriors clearing attempt and forced the puck from the blue-line to the top of the crease where Vladislav Mikhalchuk scored at 3:51.

At 7:12, the Warriors finally got on the board when Captain Josh Brook came off the left blue-line and put a shot towards the net where Tristin Langan deflected in his team-leading 37th to make it a one-goal game.

Space continued to be tight in the third period as the teams battled to create opportunities. Six minutes into the period, Daniil Stepanov battled with the Cougars along the Prince Albert right wall, he was able to dig the puck to the blueline for Woo, who then walked to the top of the circle and put a wrist shot to the back of the net for his 10th of the year.

"We eventually found our legs and started to work, it's not so much what we were doing when we had the puck but it was the work without the puck and the work to get it back, I thought when we got around to pressuring puck and going right at their D, we were able to create some turnovers and let our skill take over," said O'Leary.

There were moments in the rest of regulation where the teams were able to create some chances but they weren't able to finish.

Tuesday's game marked the second straight game on the road trip that the Warriors would go to overtime, however, this time around it ended on a positive note as Almeida scored his 15th of the season to bury his former team in the process.

Almeida, the defending WHL Player of the Week, posted a goal and two points in the win. He has four goals and ten points in the first five games of the Warriors' seven-game road trip.

Evanoff made 23 saves as he won his third straight start, while Langan also picked up a goal and two points and Brook finished with two assists in the win.

"[The goaltenders] have been the backbone for these wins," said O'Leary. "They're pushing each other, they have a great relationship and like any position, you want some competition, each guy wants the net and when they have a chance to be in there, they're doing more than their fair share."

The Warriors will travel to Edmonton on Friday and then close out their lengthy road trip on Saturday in Medicine Hat.
