After an almost flawless performance at the Softball Championships this past weekend, a local team fell just short of making it to Nationals.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A  Ice were in Saskatoon for the tournament, went 3 and 0 in the round robin, and then won one more game to put them in the gold medal game.

This with a chance to go to Nationals in Montreal, but unfortunately the Ice came up just short of a win.

"We grabbed the lead 8-6 in our half of the 6th inning, only to see them get to our bullpen pretty hard," explained Head Coach Don Anderson. "They strung together 5 hits and a couple walks, put up 5 runs, and made it 11-8 and that's how she ended 11-8."

Despite the final loss Coach Anderson said he was proud of his team and knows they won't forget this experience any time soon.

"It was a real memorable run for the girls and it was a total team effort. Everybody really pitched in and played hard when their number was called," added Anderson. "This group battled all year with some very remarkable performances. I know the girls will remember this weekend for a long time."

The Ice finished provincials with a record of 4 and 1 on the weekend, with their only loss coming to them at the hands of Prince Albert Aces, who will now advance to Nationals.
