With the NFL starting to sniff around their head coach, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have locked up Chris Jones to a contract extension.

The Vice-President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach signed an extension that will keep him with the Riders through the 2020 season.

"We are pleased that we have reached an extension with Chris," stated Craig Reynolds, Riders’ President and CEO, in a media release. “Under Chris's guidance, the team has improved year-over-year and developed into one of the league's top rosters. We are excited for what's ahead for our football team."

Jones is entering his fourth season with the Riders. He has led the team to an increase in their win total every season so far, going from 5-13 in 2016 to 10-8 in 2017 and 12-6 in 2018.

The Riders have also announced that Assistant Vice-President of Football Operations and Administration Jeremy O'Day has signed an extension from 2020. The 2019 season will be O'Day's 21st consecutive season with the Riders’ organization.

Paul Jones has also been hired as Assistant General Manager by the Riders. After spending the past 21 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, Jones has signed a two-year contract.
