UPDATED: Westbound lanes of Highway 1 west of Parkbeg reopened; travel still not recommended
UPDATED 6:44 a.m. The Highway Hotline no longer shows a road closure west of Parkbeg on Highway 1, but the road is still showing as travel not recommended between Mortlach and Rush Lake. In Swift Current, the Highway 1 eastbound lanes are showing blocked near the 11th Ave NW bridge, with semis backed up. East of Moose Jaw, Highway 1 is not recommended for travel between Belle Plaine and Regina. Check the Highway Hotline for the most up to date information. *** original story *** Moose Jaw RCMP say as of 3:30 a.m. they are responding 7 km west of Parkbeg on Highway 1, where all westbound lanes are closed, and the eastbound lanes are down to one lane. They say that weather conditions have led to slippery conditions that have made a number of tractor trailer units unable to climb the hill. Sanding crews are attending. Highway 1 between Mortlach and Rush Lake is not recommended for travel due to the road conditions.
