This year’s Wakamow Valley WinterFest has a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Moose Jaw Watershed will be on hand to teach kids about the animals found in Wakamow Valley and how to identify them by their tracks.

Todd Johnson, general manager for the Wakamow Valley Authority, explains some of the wildlife that can be found in the valley.

“That’s the best thing about my job is just look out the door any time and you get to see all different ones, raccoons, this spring there was a whole den of foxes and deer. It’s really lovely,” he said.

Other activities include free snowshoeing, the Moose Jaw Speedskating Club will have a display with skates and speedskating equipment, axe throwing, skating, and many children’s activities.

Wakamow Valley will be bringing out mobile disc golf holes for those who want to try the sport. The concession will also be open.

Wagon rides will take place once again. Admission for the rides is by donation. Johnson explained where the money will be going.

“For the wagon rides, we’re just looking for donations and those are just to go to our disc golf course this summer to make sure the course has signage and we can get that going right away,” Johnson said.

Winterfest runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kiwanis River Park.
