The Western Canadian Baseball League has made the decision to delay the start of the 2020 season to late June or early July. at the very earliest.

The league met via conference call Wednesday.

On the league’s official Twitter account, they said “other measures also being considered due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

The Moose Jaw Miller Express’ regular season was to have started May 27 at Ross Wells Park against the Swift Current 57s.

A statement from league president Kevin Kwame said that the health and safety of the players, coaches, officials and fans is paramount in all of their decision-making.

“We will not be doing anything that is not in accordance with the public health authorities and governments of the respective provinces,” Kvame’s statement said.

The league is working on a legacy project that will allow teams to show the community pride and brand in better ways when teams are able to return, the statement said.
