Two prospects impressed the Moose Jaw Warriors' brass enough during this past weekend's training camp to earn WHL Standard Player Agreements on Monday.

The Warriors announced that they have signed 2002-born Cole Jordan, a listed player, and 2003-born Lucas Brenton, who was selected in the sixth round of this spring's WHL Bantam Draft.

"It's a very, very good feeling, worked really hard and I've just got to keep working, keep it up, try to do my best and show them what I've got," said Jordan after practice with the team on Monday at Mosaic Place.

The Warriors completed their annual training camp on Sunday with the Black and White Intrasquad Game. Both Jordan and Brenton had a chance to suit up in the game after making it through rookie camp and into main camp.

Jordan -- five-foot-ten, 150 pounds -- played on the same team as Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt last season, suiting up in 46 games with the Brandon Midget AAA Wheat Kings. He finished with three goals, 15 assists and 43 penalty minutes.

The Winnipeg product said he worked hard throughout the summer to put his best foot forward during camp and it paid off, "I've been working my hardest, defending hard and moving the puck quick, all the things that they've wanted us to do," said Jordan.

Warriors general manager Alan Millar added that they've been impressed with the growth that Jordan has shown since attending last year's training camp as an invite.

"He has good puck skills and plays a smart game," said Millar. "We are very pleased Cole and his family have committed to the Warriors and the WHL for both his hockey and academic goals."

Brenton was selected by the Warriors with the 111th overall selection in this year's WHL Bantam Draft. He has been turning heads at both development camp in the summer and training camp this past weekend.

The 15-year-old Winnipeg product said he's excited to have earned a WHL S.P.A. "This is a pretty big goal completed, it's kind of like a dream come true, but I'm still going to work from it, push myself further and see where I can go from here," said Brenton.

Brenton is the second player from this year's draft class to sign with the team, joining first-round pick Eric Alarie.

In 32 games with the Winnipeg Bantam AAA Sharks last season, Brenton posted nine goals, 15 assists and 31 penalty minutes.

He said that he felt he was able to show the coaches all the areas of his game over the course of the past four days, "I really showed my skills off, I was jumping up in the play a lot and showing how I can use my body to be a solid defender and I just showed my all around game," said Brenton.

The Warriors have been happy with the skills that Brenton has put on display so far during his time in the organization. Millar said he's looking forward to seeing how the six-foot-two, 170-pound defenceman grows in their system.

"Lucas is a big, rangy, young player with lots of potential," he said. "He has good hockey sense and competes very hard."

Brenton got his first taste of the WHL over the past few days after moving onto main camp, he said that he's enjoyed the challenge of competing against the team's veterans.

"I feel like I still have some work to do, but I feel like can keep up," said Brenton. "The pace is a lot faster, they're stronger, so I'm just going to have to work over the next year, work harder than everyone else to get better."

Both new signings will get the chance to hit the ice with the Warriors for preseason action when they open their exhibition schedule this weekend at the Regina Pats Preseason Tournament.

Jordan said he's looking forward to the opportunity, "It's going to be a special moment, I'm really excited," he said.

The Warriors will be practicing throughout the week at Mosaic Place.
