The Moose Jaw Warriors and Lethbridge Hurricanes battled back-and-forth Saturday night, but unfortunately the Hurricanes picked up the overtime goal and edged the Warriors 5-4.

Both teams had plenty of energy to start the game.  They both transitioned well coming up the ice looking for offensive opportunities.

Three minutes into the game, Kade Runke broke up a Lethbridge clearing attempt in the Hurricanes zone.  The puck came to Jadon Joseph on top of the right circle where he put a quick shot between the legs of Carl Tetachuk to give the Warriors an early lead.

50 seconds later, the Hurricanes responded when Dylan Cozens finished a rush up the ice with a shot over the blocker of Bailey Brkin.

Moose Jaw had the only power-play of the period, the moved the puck quickly around the Hurricanes zone and eventually set up Eric Alarie on the left-side of the Lethbridge net.  The 16-year-old’s third goal of the season at 11:14 gave the Warriors the lead.

Just under two minutes later, Ryder Korczak stripped the puck away from the Hurricanes along their left goal line and then set up Owen Hardy for a quick shot inside the left circle, his fifth of the year made it 3-1.

Lethbridge responded with under three minutes left in the period when Oliver Okuliar put in a rebound on the right side of the Moose Jaw net.

The Hurricanes outshot the Warriors 18-6 in the second period.  They were able to tie the game at three at 5:42 on a goal from Dino Kambeitz, the followed that with a goal from Noah Boyko two minutes later to take the lead.

Moose Jaw responded quickly, two minutes after the Hurricanes fourth goal, the Warriors set up Cole Jordan for a shot from the left Lethbridge line.  Jadon Joseph came across the Hurricanes slot and was able to deflect the puck over the goal line, his second of the game tied it at four.

In the third period, the teams exchanged chances but neither was able to finish the game in regulation.

96 seconds into overtime the Hurricanes came across left Warriors line.  Oliver Okuliar was along the boards and dropped the puck to a trailing Logan Barlage who put a shot past Bailey Brkin.

Jadon Joseph led the Warriors with two goals, Ryder Korczak picked up two assists, and Bailey Brkin made 35 saves.

Moose Jaw was 1-for-1 on the power-play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors will not return to action until next weekend, Friday they will battle the Calgary Hitmen at Mosaic Place and then on Sunday they will travel to Saskatoon for a matinee game.
