The Moose Jaw Warriors made the decision in the offseason to go with two 17-year-olds in net this season, one of them being Justin Paulic.

The Thompson, Manitoba native has looked good so far in his ten starts this season and has really started to blossom as of late.  Paulic has a 5-2-2-1 record so far this season, but he hasn't lost in regulation since October 3rd in Regina.

“Throughout the season so far, I've definitely come a long way and starting to find my game a little bit,” said Paulic before the Warriors hit the ice for practice at Mosaic Place on Tuesday.

Teamed up with fellow 17-year-old goalie Daniel Wapple, the two goalies have had some bright spots and some tough night as they learn to play the game at the WHL level.

When asked to grade his performance so far this season, Paulic gave himself between a C and C+, “I definitely think I'm getting better throughout the year, but there's still lots of room for improvement, there's a couple goals that I wish I'd have back,” explained Paulic.

Paulic made two starts this past weekend.  He was in goal for Moose Jaw's first road win of the year last Friday in Prince Albert, making 34 saves in a 3-2 win for the tribe.  He got the next night off, but was back between the pipes against Medicine Hat in a 3-2 overtime loss for the Warriors.

The young netminder says there are a few things that he feels he needs to work on heading into a busy stretch of the season, “Over the last couple of games, there's been lots of goals that are going right through me and I've talked to the coaches and Jamie Hodson, the goalie coach, and we're going to continue to work on that, sealing off the holes, especially my five-hole in tight.”

In his ten starts, and 12 appearances, Paulic has faced an average of about 25 shots a night and he credits his teammates for making games easier for him by limiting the number of shots, “Every game there's very few scoring chances and that makes it easy to play.  It's really enjoyable with them playing in front of me.

“For my Minor Hockey days, I definitely use to more shots, but with only 30 shots a game maximum, it's definitely a treat.”

Paulic and his Warrior teammates will be back on the ice on Wednesday and Thursday for practice before taking off to Brandon to kick start another three game weekend.  The tribe is back at Mosaic Place to face off with Seattle and Calgary on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
