The Moose Jaw Warriors' training camp is right around the corner but before they can hit the ice some of the city's younger residents are getting a chance to break it in.

The annual Warriors Kid's Camp runs from August 12th to 16th and offers players ages 5 -13 the opportunity to train with Warriors coaches Mark O'Leary and Scott King. In addition, past and present members of the team will also be leading the campers in exercises and scrimmage matches all designed to improve their skills and love for the game.

Manager of Special Events at for the Moose Jaw Warriors, Hayley Hart-Rushinko, describes how amazing of an experience this can be for young players.

"I hope that they're excited to spend some time with our coaching staff as well as some of our players. And also to have that excitement of being down at Mosaic Place on the same ice as our Moose Jaw Warriors skate on. A very unique aspect of the kid's camp is that each day they will be able to go and spend a day in the Warriors' locker room and they get to suit up and put their skates on exactly where their favourite players do."

The camps are split into three groups of 5-7, 8-9, and 10 -13 year-olds, with every group getting multiple ice times throughout the day.

Hart-Rushinko says that the camps have also partnered with Canadian Tire and Jumpstart in order to give lower-income families the chance to send their children.

"We're trying to make it so that every kid has a chance to come. There's no fee for many of the kid's coming from Jumpstart."

Hart- Rushinko says the camp is sure to be even bigger and better than last year. Campers can register online, in person at the Warriors' office, or by calling 306-694-5711.
