The 2019 University Cup is underway in Lethbridge after two quarter-final games on Thursday.
The Moose Jaw Warriors have nine alumni taking part in the tournament to crown the U Sports Men's Hockey Champion.
Jesse Forsberg, Jaimen Yakubowski, Andrew Johnson and the Saskatchewan Huskies rolled to a 6-1 win over the Guelph Griffons in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Forsberg finished with two assists in the win.
Zach Sawchenko made 14 saves to backstop the Alberta Golden Bears to a blowout 7-1 win over Torrin White, Spenser Jensen, Dallas Valentine and the host Lethbridge Pronghorns on Thursday. U Sports Player of the Year Luke Philip led Alberta with two goals and four points.

The other two quarter-final games go on Friday, Matt Sozanski, Dakota Odgers and the Carleton Ravens face off with the New Brunswick Varsity Reds at 1 p.m. and Queen’s battles St. FX at 7 p.m.
Saskatchewan and Alberta are both into the semifinals on Saturday. The medal games are on Sunday.
