Members of the organization Visit Moose Jaw and special guests were in attendance at a banquet on Thursday for the announcement of their latest expansion.

Visit Moose Jaw unveiled their newest team member, Paula Burns, who will be the Sales Coordinator and in charge of attracting more groups and tournaments to the Friendly City.

She has certainly hit the ground running and looks forward to attracting more tourists to our city.

"I want to bring bigger events to Moose Jaw that we wouldn't normally have, or you wouldn't normally think we could have," said Burns. "But also supporting the smaller sporting organizations and things like that, and help them to host more events here and show off this awesome community."

A question that was brought up was: why do groups and events organizers always choose Regina or Saskatoon as their destination? Why not Moose Jaw and why aren't we an option? Burn said she'd like to change that and feels that people are missing out on a lot when they don't pick our city.

"Moose Jaw is a great community as a whole, so they're missing everything from downtown, to the tunnels, to the spa, to all the amenities that we have to offer here just like any other city in Saskatchewan. It's so important to the city to keep having new faces coming here and people thinking more of Moose Jaw as a place to go along side with Regina, Saskatoon and those larger centers."

She also attended the SUMA meeting this past week to do more research on the event and what would be required to host a convention of this capacity.

Acquiring Burns was one of many initiatives this organization has been working on recently, as they are also in the middle of setting up a headquarters in Mosaic Place to better serve local groups and organizations as well as visitors.
