Not too far north of the Notorious City lies the village of Sun Valley, and they're inviting everyone out for a beef on a bun to help raise funds for their new Community Centre.

Brenda Halstead, with the Sun Valley Community Association, gave a general run down of what's going on for Labour Day weekend.

"Up on the August 31st Weekend we've got a "beef on a bun" we're having at our community center, it's a brand new center, we tore down our old building last year, and now this year we're building a new one, so of course it takes a bit of funds to do all these things, so we're gonna have a 'beef on a bun", and then we're going to be having a silent auction to go with it, and then we'll be having some guessing games as well."

Halstead explained that the new building will be a great boom to the community for hosting family events and get-togethers, though there's still a ways to go for construction.

"The building is brand new, we still don't have flooring or painting or those sorts of things, they're coming along, so that's why we're doing a fundraiser, so we make sure we can put some nice floor down, and paint our walls, and have switches to turn lights on, and it's all put on by our community."

According to Halstead, this seemingly small event for those outside of the community actually carries a great importance for supporting the village.

"For our little community at Sun Valley, we're a few hundred residents, it'll be a big event to help promote our new building, and it's a great way to meet our neighbors, and to see what else is happening, we also plan social events and other weekly events at our center as well."

The event takes place at the Sun Valley Community Centre on August 31st, just 20 minutes north of Tuxford.
