For many of us during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's a whole new world as we adapt to working at home instead of at the office.

Clive Tolley runs is business, Clive Tolley Mediation Services, from his house and he shared a few tips.

Tolley said the first thing to do is set up a dedicated workspace that will be quiet and free of as many distractions as possible.

“For people working from home just for a short period of time, hopefully for a short period of time, they might think about converting some space somewhere in the house that is a little bit private or out of the way so that maybe the kids and the spouse aren’t bothering you so much,” he said.

He added that keeping a regular schedule will help. He suggested going to bed at the same time, getting up at the same time and keep things as normal as possible.

He also suggested dressing as if you were going into the office and that sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee in your pajamas will not be productive.

Finally, he said there is nothing wrong with having goals while you are working from home, but don’t be too hard on yourself.

He said distractions are going to happen, but you need to take pride in the work that you get done.

“I think the things are to be not so hard on yourself in terms of be satisfied with the work you’ve done each day and then try to keep up that schedule and keep up that consistent, dedicated workspace and dedicated work time,” he said.
