The Moose Jaw Public Library has a wide array of activities this summer for all ages.

The library will continue its ongoing programs such as baby storytime every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required

On Wednesdays, the library is offering storytime in the park at 10:30 a.m. and movie matinees for kids ages 8 to 12 at 2 p.m.

A teen movie matinee is taking place on July 30 for kids 13 and up, which is free and one of the first in-person teen programs taking place in the library since the pandemic.

Craft Mondays and LEGO weekends are self-guided activities that take place during open hours on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

“The kids can come into the library anytime during the day on those days and build a LEGO project for a display on our shelf or they can come in on Mondays and do a craft that's related to a specific author,” said library Public Service/Social Media Clerk Naiomi Setter.

The library’s summer reading clubs will happen all summer long for children, youth and adults.

Adults can participate in a number of challenges. Those who complete the challenges can enter into a draw to win prizes every week.

Youth can take part in online digital dungeons and dragons. They can also log their reading minutes. Once they’ve logged two hours of reading, they can come to the library to receive a scratch-and-win ticket to enter to win prizes.

For children, they can log their reading minutes with the chance to win prizes and enter draws. There are also activities for children on the Reader Zone app.

The library has a number of workshops on the go as well for July and August.

July 22 is the beginning of the Make Your Space program. The program takes place every Friday for six weeks where kids have a space to use their creativity and imagination.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop takes place on July 30 at 10:30 a.m. for ages 8 to 12. The program takes the four disciplines and puts them into real-world applications. Registration is required.

On Aug. 4, staff from the Saskatchewan Science Centre will be at the library for Robot Clean Up and Take Action for ages six to 12. The two-part program will have kids learning about robots and help teach a robot to recycle using block-based coding language.

The second part, Take Action, will take kids about changes they can make to reduce pollution and help combat climate change in their own backyard. Registration is required for Robot Clean Up and Take Action.

You can register or find more information on these programs on the Moose Jaw Public Library’s website.
