The Briercrest Clippers women’s volleyball team has been dominating the competition this season and that didn’t change this past weekend.

The Clippers rolled to back-to-back four-set wins over the Red Deer College Queens.

Briercrest won in four sets (25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23) on Friday and then repeated the effort on Saturday in another four-set win (25-13, 16-25, 25-23, 26-24).

The Clippers are now 4-0 this season and 12-2 overall in sets during those four matches.

On the men’s side, the Clippers won in four sets (25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22) over the Red Deer College Kings on Friday, but the Kings struck back with a four-set win (25-27, 25-20, 25-12, 25-15) on Saturday.

Briercrest is 1-3 this season.

The Clippers men’s hockey team came away with a split of their two games against the Portage College Voyageurs over the weekend.

Briercrest lost 4-1 to Portage on Friday night with Ryan Laird scoring the lone goal for the Clippers in the loss.

The Clippers struck back on Saturday, however, as they collected their first win of the season, skating past the Voyageurs, 6-2, at the Barkman Arena.

Russell Olsen and Cale Kindrachuk had two goals each, while Austin Kozluk picked up a goal and three points in the win for Briercrest. Ryley Cribbin had two assists as well.

The Clippers are now 1-5 on the year in the Alberta College Athletic Conference.

In basketball action, the Clippers hit the court on Saturday in Medicine Hat against the Rattlers.

Nicholas Gregerson had 14 points in a 105-61 loss for the men’s team, while in the women’s game, Adrianna Beck posted 22 points and Tracy Lewis picked up 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 73-60 loss to Medicine Hat.

Both teams are off to 0-3 starts to the season.
