Moose Jaw athletes captured five medals in total at the South Central District Badminton Championships on Saturday in Caronport.

Central's team of Liam Kerr and Carter Voth and Peacock's duo of Allison Billy and Chantal Usher won gold in their respective divisions to secure spots at regionals next weekend.

Kerr and Voth edged out Glentworth's Cole Za and Carson Fehr in the boys doubles gold medal game, while Central Butte's Blake Christmann and Parker Marzolf took home the bronze medal.

Billy and Usher won gold over Central Butte's Nicole Peterson and Desrae Miller. Assiniboia's Lindsey Hawkins and Morgan Delorme picked up the bronze medal.

Cornerstone's Rung Thai also advanced through to regionals with a silver medal finish in girls singles. She lost to Caronport's Melissa Ellis in the gold medal game. Glentworth's Mahteyha Dumelie came in third.

The Central team of Ashlyn Jesse and Brendan Jesse finished second in mixed doubles to also advance to regionals. They fell to Gravelbourg's Chloe Pouteaux and Rylan Kleckner in the gold medal game, while Kaelyn Logan and Ethan Armstrong out of Rouleau took bronze.

In boys singles, Jonathon Harden of Assiniboia claimed gold, while Rockglen's Landen Woronek finished in the silver spot and Vanier's Hayden Ma took home bronze.

The regional championship will be held at Peacock coming up this Saturday.
