It was a big day for the Moose Jaw Warriors as they selected 10 players in Thursday's WHL Prospects Draft. With the 16th pick in the first round, the Warriors picked defenceman Aaron Sawatzky from Didsbury, Alberta. They also picked up the hometown kid Carson Deichert in the third round. Deichert finished last year with the U15 AA Warriors and had 58 points in 28 games. In total, the Warriors drafted five forwards and five defencemen. 

It was also a big day for Moose Jaw's Ryan Gibbs and Mossbank's Chase Petersen who also heard their name called. Gibbs was selected in the 10th round by the US Division's Tri-City Americans, while Petersen was the first pick in the second round by the Lethbridge Hurricanes. 

Continuing with the WHL, the Championship Series gets rolling on Friday between the Winnipeg ICE and Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. CDT in the Manitoba capital. 

A big round of applause for the Golden Ticket 16U women's volleyball team who went 3-0 on Thursday at Nationals in Calgary. They will continue their quest for a national title on Friday. 

It was a night of offense for the Moose Jaw 13U AAA Canucks at the Andrie Diamond on Thursday, as they rolled to a 17-6 win over the Regina Padres. 

The Moose Jaw 18U AAA Canucks get set for a doubleheader on Sunday against the East Central Red Sox, with the first pitch at 12:00 p.m. 

And in the NHL playoffs, Carolina took down New Jersey 3-2 in overtime to win that series, while Dallas took a 3-2 series lead over Seattle with a 5-2 win.
