The Moose Jaw Miller Express saw their seven-game win streak come to an end on Thursday, after a 7-6 extra innings loss to the Regina Red Sox. The squad is back in action on Saturday night when they host Medicine Hat in the first game of a back-to-back against the Mavericks. Moose Jaw holds first place with a 7-2 record in the Western Canadian Baseball League's East Division.

Over to minor league baseball, the 18U AAA Canucks were on the wrong side of a 10-3 loss to the Regina Wolfpack on Thursday night, they welcome the Sask 5 Giants to Ross Wells Park for a doubleheader starting on Saturday morning. The 15U AAA Canucks lost a 12-11 nail-biter on Thursday to the Regina Wolfpack on the road. They will host the East Central Dodgers on Sunday. 

The Lumsden Devils high school football team is holding an alumni flag football game tomorrow.

The high school team will be scrimmaging from 10 am to noon followed by the alumni game at 1.

Devils head coach Luke Dunville says they hope to have a good turnout.

“We’ve got a lot of former players in and around town. We just thought it would be a great way to get everyone together to wrap up our high school spring camp and just create a buzz and create some more support for the football team,” said Dunville. 

About 36 alumni players are expected to take part in the classes of 1996 to 2021.

The 2023 CFL season kicked off on Thursday, with the BC Lions taking down the Calgary Stampeders 25-15. On Friday, Hamilton travels to Winnipeg, and then on Saturday, Montreal welcomes Ottawa. 

After a long-anticipated off-season, the Saskatchewan Roughriders kick off their CFL regular season on Sunday, as the green and white will kick things off on the road against the Edmonton Elks starting at 5:00 p.m.

In the Stanley Cup Finals, Florida was able to cut the Golden Knights series lead to 2-1 after a 3-2 win on Thursday in Game 3. 

And the Blue Jays picked up a 3-2 win over Houston.
