Vanier's Amy Piche slides to break up an attempt by Central on Saturday.

The Vanier Spirits finished off a busy day in High School Girls Soccer with a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Central Cyclones at Sunningdale Field on Saturday afternoon.

Vanier had lost their morning game, 8-0 to Swift Current, while Central was coming off a 5-2 win over Estevan in the morning.

The Cyclones carried the momentum from that win over to the start of the game against Vanier and jumped out to a 2-1 before halftime with goals from Lindsay Fish and Valerina Berisha, who scored right before the break.  Amanda Miller scored Vanier's lone first half goal.

Miller scored again in the second half, while Lilly Shandersky added a pair, including the game winner, to propell the Spirits to the big win.

Vanier's Amy Piche says their communication was key, "We played really well, we strung together some good passes as a team and our communication is improving.

"We're improving with moving the ball and then stepping up, that was key."

Fish says despite the loss to Vanier to end the day, they were happy with the effort put forward over the two games on Saturday, "I thought it was pretty good, we won our first game, so we were pretty pumped up to come into (the Vanier) game, and this one wasn't too bad, just an unfortunate score."

The other Saturday game featured Swift Current rolling over Estevan 16-0 nothing to complete the perfect day and remain undefeated on the year in league play.  The next High School Girls Soccer action comes on Tuesday when Central travels to Weyburn.

There's High School Boys Soccer on Monday at Gutheridge Field with Vanier facing off with Riverview/Cornerstone at 4:30pm.
