*UPDATE* The Special Weather statement has ended as of 3 p.m. Thursday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for south-central and southeast Saskatchewan, saying a swath of moisture is on the way.

Up to 30 mm of rain is expected to fall Wednesday evening in some areas, and with the temperature expected to drop below zero Wednesday evening, that rain will turn into snow.

The snow is expected to begin overnight Wednesday or early Thursday, and 5 to 10 cm of snow could fall by the end of it all.

The mixture of rain, snow, and freezing temperatures will lead to road conditions being less than ideal. Visibility could be reduced at times, and heavier wet snow may impact tree branches and power lines.

Good news though is that the majority of the snow is expected to melt throughout the day Thursday before temperatures return to double digits on Friday.
