Square One Community Moose Jaw is holding its Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Saturday, November 19 at the Timothy Eaton Centre.

The event takes place from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Soup is being served from 11 am to 2:30 pm and you get to keep the bowl.

Volunteer Crystal Lockyer says they're raising funds for a couple of different causes.

"One is a warming centre. Last year the Rainbow Retro was able to take in the homeless in their warming centre but they've since closed down so there's a huge need in the community with winter coming up for a warming centre for people to be able to access," she explained. "Another thing that we're trying to do is raise funds for a women's emergency shelter. Right now there's a few places in Moose Jaw, one being the Riverside Mission, but unfortunately, women aren't able to stay there overnight and the transition house as well. They only take women who are victims of domestic violence."

The bowls and soup have been donated by organizations within the community.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or by emailing communitysquareone@gmail.com.
