Announced in a press release Monday morning, Tourism Moose Jaw has made the difficult Decision to cancel this years Sidewalk Days due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was originally scheduled for July 2-4.

Executive Director of Tourism Moose Jaw, Jackie L'Heureux Mason said they’ve been in contact with the provincial government, and that they just don't see how hosting the event could be possible.

"We had to completely cancel Sidewalk days for 2020. The provincial government is advising us that they just don't see how we could get 20,000 people over three days in a nine block radius and still follow the safe distancing requirements. "

"Hopefully in the fall we can plan some sort of community gathering and put all of this behind us."

Vendors who have registered to be a part of sidewalk days can email info@sidewalkdays.ca or call Jackie at 306-692-0555.

Vendors and sponsors will have the choice of deferring to next year’s event or get a refund.

L’Heureux Mason says shes still holding out hope for some sort of event on Canada Day, even if it is just a fireworks display
