The bleachers were almost full as the community turned out for this weekends charity volleyball event, Sets4Supper.

Organized by Jenna Meili, Madison DeCorby, Aimee Dumlao, and Allison Grajczyk–Jelinski, these four girls set out to create an event that would be a lot of fun and also raise funds for Riverside Mission.

With two games planned, one featuring local celebrities and one feature high school athletes, people came out to enjoy two amazing games.

In the all-star game, Blue Team's coaches, Scott Schultz and Shaune Gray, and their players/celebrities Dave DePape, Hayley Hart, Cal Carter, Angela Sereda, Kevin Domon-Grenier, Ryan Meili, Corey Nyhagen, Jordan Lonsberry, and Melanie Ziffle went up against the Yellow Team's Danny Mullens, Fraser Tolmie, Craig Hemingway, Alana Coghill, Cam Lewis, Michaela Sykora, Jeremy O’Day, and Sarah Dallaire and their coaches Joe Gunnis and Chris Best.

It was a lot of back and forth but a lot of fun for players and spectators and the match went on. Both teams managed to win one set but in the end, it went to Team Yellow, aka the Riverside Riot.

"I feel really honoured and privileged just to be working there and just the support, just to see it on the court, the love of the game, but just the support from my fellow colleagues and friends it means a lot, and to see our Mayor supporting us and out there having some fun it was just a hoot to look at him and watch him," Riverside Riot captain and Riverside Mission staff member Danny Mullens said.

Next up was the high school game, but before that, St. Michael's Elementary school has their volleyball team play a few sets on the court during the transition.

The high school game, there were smaller rosters but more cutthroat action.

The Blue Team's Maddy Ferraton, Connor Health, Cole Morash, Olivia Mowchenko, Macee Rusu, Maddie Sills, and Ryan Zerff went face to face with the Yellow Team's Cooper Cole, Taylor Doerksen, Jenna Helland, Madison Jordison, Matthew Kelly, Nathan Meili, Ray-lyn Schimdt, and Alexander Yee.

Both teams showed great skill but it ultimately went to Team Blue.

Organizer Jenna Meili and Allison Grajczyk–Jelinski often volunteers for Riverside and wanted to take that extra step and support the organization even more.

"The Riverside staff has always been so great and today was no exception, they're thanking us, they're always supporting us, they're there for us this whole time like 'what do you need, what can we do,' and I think they're super happy with what we were able to do today," Grajczyk–Jelinski said.

With a silent auction, a penny parade, and large bills being donated for the silver plate admission, both girls are excited to announce the total later this week with a cheque presentation to Riverside.

"I just really want to thank our community and the support and generosity of everybody it's been great," Meili said.
