Recently, a Semi-driving simulator has been made available to help drivers train and update their skills. The simulator creates a stress-free environment for drivers to learn in. Semi-truck training is now mandatory in Saskatchewan and Stacey Kliewer, Custom Courier President, has made an easier way to get the needed training without the hassle.

Because simulators have been used to train pilots for many years, Kliewer believed that it was time the truck driving industry should follow.

The simulator has many obstacles that drivers will be tested on, such as parking, reversing, dealing with unexpected blowouts, brakes failing, and driving in fog or rain. The seat and wheel also vibrate to simulate situations like gravel or ice. Though the simulator will help drivers to learn, it will not replace the actual on-road driving training which is required.

Kliewer explains why he decided to bring this simulator to the public "I bought this simulator to test the proficiency of my own drivers and help them become safer drivers. The problem is this technology is very expensive so the only way I could justify bringing this sort of cost into my company was to share with other companies." He also explains how this isn't a way of gaining an upper hand or making a profit, this is a way of helping people by providing a piece of equipment that everyone could benefit from.
