Saskatchewan went into the Championship Pool on a losing note on Wednesday at the 2018 Brier in Regina. They lost 8-4 to Ontario in their final game of pool play to finish with a 4-3 record.

The Steve Laycock-skipped rink had already locked up a spot in the Championship Pool the night before, but were looking to continue their four-game winning streak.

Ontario had different plans as they used a four-ender in the ninth to double up Saskatchewan for the victory.

Saskatchewan will now open the Championship Pool on Thursday afternoon against 6-1 Alberta at 2 p.m. Then at 7 p.m, they battle Brad Gushue’s Team Canada, who also enters the day at 6-1.
