There may have been nerves heading in, but Moose Jaw’s Skylar Ackerman and Team Saskatchewan didn’t show any once they hit the ice on Monday.
Saskatchewan scored a 7-4 win over British Columbia in their opening game at the 2018 Canadian Under-18 Women’s Curling Championship in St. Andrews, N.B.
Ackerman and company opened with three in the first end, they added three in the fifth end and a steal of one more in the sixth, which put them in front 7-2 at that one point.
B.C. scored singles in the second and third ends and then added a deuce in the seventh before running out of stones in the eighth.
The win puts Saskatchewan off to a strong start in Pool A at 1-0. They will be back on the ice at 11 a.m. Sask time to take on the Northwest Territories, who also sit at 1-0 after the opening day.
