Roots School is looking to raise $2,500 to help establish a permanent outdoor classroom.

The nature-based school is hosting a Vivid Fun Run this Saturday, June 3 at Battle Creek Adventure Park.

"It's an event the whole family can enjoy," said Fundraising Administrator Jacqueline Geoffrion. "We love when groups of friends and singles and whole families come on out and you feel free to walk, run, stroll, or dance your way through this paint-filled course. Take in the many wellness workshops. We have face painting going on, tie-dye, splatter paint, and a lot more."

Geoffrion notes they'll have three paint stations with volunteers spraying powdered paint at participants. In addition to a wellness workshop, strongman James Jeffers will also be giving a demonstration.

"You're welcome to dress in white if you really want those colours to pop and of course wear your costumes," added Geoffrion. "Our volunteers are going to do their best to cover you with as much colour as possible as you run by."

Roots School is a non-profit organization located in Moose Jaw with about 20 students currently enrolled. Geoffrion described the school as a nature-based learning program that offers an educational alternative for families.

"We learn through project-based learning and focus on holistic growth of the whole child," she explained. "We meet the Saskatchewan curriculum through hands-on projects and nature-based experiences. We find that today, a lot of kids are facing struggles with anxiety and depression and disconnection from self. Spending too much time indoors and with technology."

Pricing for the Vivid Fun Run is as follows: 2.5km - $30, 5km - $60, kids 4 and under are free.
